I snoozed the alarm in my sleep and almost missed the Father's Day 5K. The whole family slept in and I was the only one to make it out to Toronto's Distillery District for the prostate cancer charity run.
The distillery is a perfect venue for a run like this. There's a tonne of space both outdoors and in, and the roads in the area are flat and almost traffic-free.
I used my Sport Juggling Co. racing beanbags and started out in the lead. But a drop at 1K took me back into 2nd place, where I stayed until the end. I finished comfortably in 18 minutes, so I still think a world-record, sub-16:55 is doable on the track.
It's good to be joggling again.
Ray from Bluevelo e-mailed me today to let me know that I'm booked for a velomobile test drive next Sunday. I'll be trying out the WAW and the Versatile. Can't wait!

The winner came in at 17:55 and had a good 30-45 second lead on the field. It seems as if the drop at 1k mark was the reason for 30-45 seconds, which does not make much sense to me?
It makes sense to me but I'm a joggler too.

Hey! Congrats on second place!
>>I finished comfortably in 18 minutes--must be nice!
You're Speedy! I think you could smoke the world record...
Question; If you were to joggle 5k in say 16:30,if you dropped a bean bag, would it still count?
I think my time was about 18:10. It was less than 30 seconds. When I dropped, I followed the Guinness World Record rules and went back behind the drop point before I started again. The beanbag rolled forward a fair amount on this drop, so I probably lost about 15 seconds.
So yes, you can drop and still set the record, as long as you go back behind the drop point before you continue joggling. But in a 5K, every second counts, so you need to avoid drop at all cost.
do you think you would have won without the drop?
